About us...
This website is written by a woman and a man
We believe that writing this information
website as a male and female team will
improve the quality of our advice
enormously. We will write from different
perspectives about
the experiences of sex and relationships and
want to include all aspects
of sex and relationships, such as diverse
sexual orientations, gender beyond male
and female, and so on, in an intelligent way
too. To do this as a team we have written
our texts and added the author's name to it, or
sometimes start a paragraph with "he says"
or "she says", so that you can follow who has written what and decide for yourself where you stand on the issues concerned.
Our reasons for using
synonyms
One of our
ongoing discussions about how to run this
website has been about whether we as authors
should stay anonymous or whether we should
share our full names and credentials. Both
sides of this argument have got benefits and
drawbacks for you as our readers and for us
as authors.
For now we
have decided to stick with our synonyms Anna
and Rod as they allow us to be completely
honest and open in our writing without
having to make compromises to keep people,
who don't like our views happy. The main
drawback with this strategy for us is that
you as the reader cannot verify our
credentials against other sources such as
independent professional listings on the
internet. In that sense, please don't trust
us just because we are professionals!
However, we hope that you will check our
texts against your own good, common sense as
a way of evaluating it. Additionally, we
will always reference our sources for the
material we write about so that our texts
disclose their sources even though we do not
disclose our offline identities.
And so you know what we are good at...
Anna has a Master's degree in Zoology and is
a qualified psychotherapist running a
private practice in the UK. Additionally,
she teaches psychotherapy in the UK and
abroad as well as supervises other
psychotherapists. An investigation into the development of
Sex-and-Relationships was her
PhD research project, which she completed in 2009.
Rod has also got a Master's
degree in Zoology (which is a pure
coincidence), has done training in
psychotherapy and is running websites on
sexuality. He is a men's trustee of a men's
sexual health charity and helps to run self
development workshops for men. He is the tekkie one of the two of
us.
We want
your contributions...
Additionally, as there are only two of us,
there will be a lot of experiences of sex and
relationships which we don't know about
first hand. So,
that's where you come in!
